Southwind Park is one of the best playgrounds around Springfield, IL when it comes to entertaining all ages. This park is located on 80 acres and features countless activities including fishing piers, a butterfly garden, and open fields perfect for flying a kite. They offer two playgrounds, one of which is entirely ADA-compliant. Both areas are ideal for kids ages 18 months and up. Throughout the summer, be sure to bring along a swimsuit so you can check out the splash pad!
Washington Park

Washington Park is one of the largest spots in the city, offering 150 acres for your family to explore. The walking paths are some of my favorites, taking you across wooded areas and historic sites. The playground is also wonderful for smaller Springfield, IL kids. The ramps leading to the slides are easy to navigate, while the slides offer the right amount of thrills. There are also trees all across the grounds, offering shade during the hottest days!
Centennial Park

Centennial Park is a great destination no matter the time of year. When the snow falls throughout the winter, be sure to grab some sleds and make your way over to the 100-foot hill, where you can race all day long! Throughout the warmer months, you can check out the two playgrounds with options for Springfield, IL kids up to the age of 10. They even have a fitness playground that adults can try out for themselves.
Knight’s Action Park

If you are in the mood for a little more adventure, Knight’s Action Park is your spot. This legendary amusement park has it all, from mini-golf and arcade games to splash pads and water slides. The grounds feature a towering jungle gym perfect for kids ready to explore. Your child will have a shaded space where they can run, climb, and slide. This area is designated for kids ages 10 and under, and there are nearby benches so you can watch in comfort.
