Next, it’s time to fill up at Mahan’s Filling Station. This was one of the original Route 66 gas stations around the highway, and it has been perfectly preserved as a Springfield, IL, attraction and landmark. You can find it on display at Fulgenzi’s Pizza and Pasta. Oh, and if you do need a literal fill-up, there is a functional gas station just across the interstate.
